Shobhaa De comes out in support of Barkha Dutt’s coverage of the terror attacks in this blog of hers.
De describes Dutt’s coverage as “doing her own job” and goes on to say that one must not create much ado about nothing for someone who is doing his/her own job. Agreed. What we all disagreed with was the way she went about it. Like Vijayasarathy in “Neengal Kaetta Paadal” saying “Idhu dhaan Taj Hotel terrace. Inga thaan commandos ellam irangikittu irukkaanga”. Of course, even the other channels showed similar footages but Dutt’s coverage was like a live telecast of a cricket match with concomitant commentary in the background, which from the point of view of a defence personnel, is totally unacceptable.
Maybe Dutt will not feel beleaguered now.
